Biodiversity and conservation research lines

BioForMoz implements research on biodiversity and conservation through training and research grants, in order to develop specific skills for the Mozambican institutions dedicated to these activities.
The following are masters scholarships:

  1. Genetic (phylogeographical) differentiation of Prostephanus truncatus (Horn) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) in Moçambique.
  2. DNA barcode for assessment of specific and phylogenetic biodiversity in pollinators (Diptera: Syrphidae): Chimanimani National Reserve, Manica Province, Mozambique.
  3. Genetic Diversity Based on 21 autoxomic STRs from Mozambican ethnolinguistic groups.

The following research lines are developed by research fellowships:

  1. Molecular Ichthyology: From river to river: the study of genetic migration in fishes.
  2. Genetic characterization of wild mammals: Evaluation of the genetic characteristics of the African buffalo in Mozambique, respecting the biogeographical regions.
  3. Review and identification taxonómica, morfológica e molecular da biodiversidade de Himenópteros, polinizadores da Colecção de Insectos do Museu de História Natural de Maputo, Moçambique.
